◤FIFA World Cup in Qatar◢ Ecuador part ways with national team head coach Gustavo Alfaro..

The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) announced on its official website over the weekend that they and the national team's Argentine former head coach Gustavo Alfaro have decided not to continue working together.

In the official statement, the Ecuadorian Football Federation not only thanked Alfaro for successfully leading the country's national team to enter the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but also thanked Alfaro and his team of assistants for their past contributions.

The statement stated that after the end of the World Cup, the two sides promised to give each other some time to evaluate and make the best decision for the future development of the national team. However, after careful consideration, both parties believed that the Ecuadorian national team needs to be manage by a team with another plan to ensure the team's continued success, hence the Ecuadorian Football Federation can only respect Alfaro and his team of assistants' wishes and no longer cooperate together.

Last but not least, the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) added in its statement that they have begun searching for a candidate for the national team's new head coach position and that they also ensure that this will be an excellent candidate who understands the Ecuadorian national team well and can bring the team more success. Before the new head coach is confirmed, the Ecuadorian Football Federation will not make further respond to the matter.

Alfaro, 60, has been in the coaching industry since 1992. He is well-known in South America. He has led Olimpo and Quilmes to win the Argentine Second Division one each, and led Arsenal de Sarandi to a shock Argentine Primera División, Copa Sudamericana and the Copa Argentina championships win. He had also led the small Boca Juniors to win 1 Supercopa Argentina and 1 Superliga Argentina championships.

The only time Alfaro came to Asia to coach was as the head coach of Al-Ahli in July 2009, but he resigned due to personal reasons four months later.

Alfaro took over as the head coach of the Ecuador national team at the end of August 2020. He led the team in 35 games and achieved 12 wins, 14 draws and 9 losses, with a winning rate of 34.29%.

In the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar that just passed, Ecuador upset South Korea, however because of the use of illegal player Byron Castillo during their qualification, the reputation of the national team and the Football Federation, as well as Alfaro's own coaching career has forever left a disgraceful stain.
