23 year-old footballer Cody Fisher stabbed to death while celebrating Boxing Day party at a night club with friends..

Sky Sports quoted West Midlands Police sources and reported on Tuesday that a male football player was stabbed to death for no reason while celebrating a Boxing Day party with friends at a local nightclub, Crane on Monday night , at the age of 23.

According to an official statement from West Midlands Police, the deceased was identified as Cody Fisher. Fisher and a group of friends went to the Crane Nightclub in the Digbeth area of Birmingham at 11:45 that night to celebrate the Boxing Day party, but Fisher was suddenly approached by a group of people and stabbed multiple times.

The accompanying friends called for help immediately after the incident, and the police and ambulance personnel soon arrived at the scene. Unfortunately, although the ambulance personnel provided first aid to Fisher for half an hour, Fisher was unable to be saved, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Police said that the police have now launched an investigation into Fisher's assassination under the murder clause, and welcome all nightclub partygoers who were present that night to provide evidences to the police.

After the incident, one of Fisher's former teammates, who did not want to disclose his identity, said sadly to Sky Sports that before the incident, he had received a text message from Fisher asking if he wanted to accompany him to the party, but he chose not to go, and tragedy struck. He said that Fisher was a very loyal and good friend who was willing to go out of his way for others. He was saddened by Fisher's sudden passing and felt guilty that if he was present, Fisher might not be killed by being stabbed.

Regarding the security measures of the nightclub, the former teammate also criticized that he did not understand why the nightclub security could allow customers to bring knives into the club, and called on the police to introduce stricter regulations prohibiting people from carrying weapons on streets to reduce the recurrence of such tragedies.

Fisher was born in Redditch on September 23, 1999. He was 1.88 meters tall and plays as a left -ack, but he can also play as a center-back. Fisher joined the youth academy of the EFL Championship club Birmingham City when he was young, and later played for Walsall on-loan.

After being released by Birmingham City in 2018, Fisher joined Southern League Premier Division Central (English non-league) club Stratford Town.

During this period, he also played for two non-league clubs also based in Birmingham area, Bromsgrove and Stourbridge, on-loan.

Following the news of Fisher's death, Stratford Town chairman Jed McCrory said, the club, including Fisher's family, were saddened to lose a prospect on such a festive day as Boxing Day. Everyone at the club were extremely sad and cannot accept that Fisher passed away in such a manner.
