AC Milan completes long-term contract extension with key defensive midfielder Ismaël Bennacer..

AC Milan announced on their official website on Thursday that the club has completed the contract extension with the club's key player, Algeria international defensive midfielder Ismaël Bennacer.

According to the official statement of AC Milan, Bennacer has signed a new long-term four-and-a-half-year deal with the club, and his new contract will now runs until the summer of 2027.

After completing his contract renewal procedures, Bennacer happily wrote through his personal official Instagram account that: "The story will continue. The atmosphere of San Siro, my Champions League debut, the championship and etc... There have been many indescribable and memorable moments when I wore this jersey. We hope the feeling of working alongside each other will last forever."

"I am proud to be able to write one glorious history after another for this great club. I would like to thank the management, the head coach, my teammates and all the fans for their trust and support. Go forward forever, Milan!"

The 25-year-old Bennacer was born in Arles, France on December 1, 1997. He is 1.75 meters tall and plays as a defensive midfielder. He has dual citizenship of France and Algeria. Bennacer joined the youth academy of his hometown club Arles since he was a child, and then began to represent the team's reserve team in the summer of 2014.

In the summer of 2015, Bennacer moved to the Arsenal youth academy and represented the Gunners in the 4th knockout round of the League Cup in October of the same year coming on as a substitute . During this period, he was also once loaned back to France to play for Tours to enhance his skills.

In August 2017, Bennacer moved to Italy to join Empoli and immediately led the club to win the Serie B championship. Although Empoli failed to avoid relegation the following season, Bennacer's outstanding performance quickly won the attention of many big clubs.

In August 2019, Bennacer moved to AC Milan for €16 million. Since joining, he and his former teammate Ivory Coast international Franck Kessie have become one of the best defensive midfield pairings in Europe Big 5 leagues, and even joined hands to win the Serie A championship last season.

This season, Bennacer has represented the defending Serie A champions across 24 games in all competitions, scoring 1 goal and assisting 1 time.
