Aguero Masih tak Habis Pikir dengan Keputusan City Lepas Sterling

Aguero admits, sometimes City often take strange decisions.

MANCHESTER - Former Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero, admitted that he still cannot understand the reasons for the decision of The Citizens management to release Raheem Sterling in this summer's transfer window. The decision, said Aguero, became one of the strange decisions made by City.

With a reported transfer value of £47.5 million, City are willing to release Sterling to Chelsea. The English winger has been officially tied to the Blues with a five-year contract duration. City's decision was met with strong criticism from Aguero.

"I don't understand (the reason for) the sale of Sterling (by City). Indeed, there are times when they (City) make strange decisions,'' Aguero said in a post on one of his social media accounts as reported by the Mirror , Tuesday (2/8/2022).

Aguero, who still holds one of the City legends because he sits as the top goalscorer in the club's history, seems to think that Sterling can still make a maximum contribution to The Citizens this season. Sterling, who turned 27 years old, is considered still in peak form.

Last season, the former Liverpool winger managed to contribute 17 goals and nine assists from 47 appearances in all competitions. This is Sterling's fourth lowest appearance since playing for City at the start of the 2015/2016 season.

In the last seven seasons with City, Sterling has won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup and five League Cup trophies. In total, from 337 appearances in all competitions with The Citizens, Sterling has packed 131 goals and 94 assists.

Sterling's role with City finally ended in the summer of this year, when his contract with The Citizens still had one year remaining. Sterling has not lost his touch. In his debut match with the Blues, Sterling had contributed one goal, precisely when the West London club beat Udinese, 3-1, in a test match, late last month.

Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel admitted that the signing of Sterling was one of the Blues' top priorities in this summer's transfer window. ''He is our main target. His presence is a big improvement for this team. In terms of age range, experience and style of play, he is the player we are looking for," Tuchel told Sky Sports.
