Allegri apologizes Juventus failed in the last 16 of the Champions League
2022-03-19 20:30JAKARTA -- Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri apologized for his team's failure after it ran aground at Villarreal with a 1-4 aggregate in the Champions League round of 16 at the Allianz Stadium, Turin, Wednesday (16/3/2022) evening local time. Allegri said Juventus played well in this match overall, but in the end had to admit it was a bad result.
"I can't blame the kids for everything. I congratulate Emery and Villarreal because they played a fair game," Allegri said as reported by the club's official website.
The Italian coach continued to say that he considered Villarreal to have the intention to take the game to extra time and take advantage of certain moments.
"They did it in the best way, we were too naive," Allegri explained.
In line with Allegri, Juventus winger Juan Cuardado said there was no explanation for the defeat and the Bianconeri played a good first half, but not scoring was a problem. The Colombian continued to explain, sometimes football is like this and now Juventus must shift their focus to other championships.
"Playing against this incredible team is difficult, we know that. We have to get up and turn the page as soon as possible," said Cuardado.
Another player from Juventus, Danilo said, this 0-3 defeat was indescribable. What's more, it's the little things in this game that make the difference and the players look like they're looking for alibis.
"We weren't good enough, after 0-1 we had to score, and instead we got punished. We have to apologize and hold our heads up straight away, start working again from tomorrow," explained Danilo.
In this match, Juventus surprisingly had to admit the advantage of Villarreal with a score of 0-3 thanks to penalties from Gerard Moreno and Arnaut Danjuma, as well as goals from Pau Torres within 15 minutes.
