Basketball celebrity Mutombo is being treated for brain tumor
2022-10-17 16:28Basketball Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumor in Atlanta, and his family has also stated that he is in very good spirits, according to the NBA.
Dikembe's family did not reveal further details as they asked for privacy during this time so they could focus on caring for Dikembe.
Mutombo, 56 , played 18 seasons in the NBA , playing for the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers , New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. Mutombo was an eight-time All-Star, four-time All-Defensive Player, three-time All-NBA selection, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015 .
He last played in the 2008-09 season and Mutombo has since done a lot of work for charity and humanitarian causes. Mutombo speaks 9 languages and in 1997 established the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation, dedicated to improving the health, education and life of the Congolese people.
Even after his basketball career ended, Mutombo was still active in the basketball world and has been one of the NBA 's global ambassadors for many years.
Mutombo recently attended the Basketball Hall of Fame ceremony in Springfield, Massachusetts, and two preseason games in Saitama, Japan.
