Beckham Bantah Penunjukan Phil Neville karena Pertemanan

Beckham insists closeness was not the main factor behind Inter Miami's decision.

MIAMI - David Beckham appointed Philip Nevilles as Inter Miami's new coach. However, the appointment was accused of being laden with nepotism because the two of them were close friends while still defending Manchester United and the England national team.

Not only that, both of them also co-own the Salford City club, along with other former teammates, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, plus businessman Peter Lim.

However, Beckham, who is the owner of the MLS club, denied it. Beckham insists this close relationship was not the main factor behind Inter Miami's decision.

The former Real Madrid player said Neville's work ethic was the reason why he and Inter Miami officials chose Neville as coach. "I have known him since I was 15, 16 years old, from children. I know what he is like as a player, as a person and I know what his work ethic is like," Beckham said, quoted by Skysports , Saturday (23/1).

Beckham revealed, Neville and his brother, Gary Neville, are two players who worked hard throughout their careers. However, the husband of Victoria Bekcham cannot deny that there will be an assumption that the appointment of the former England women's soccer national team coach is due to friendship.

"We run a serious football club. We pay people who we feel are very suitable for the job," said Beckham.
