Belgium U20s international attacking midfielder Cihan Çanak extends contract with Standard Liège..





Standard Liège announced on their official website on Sunday that the club has extended the contract of Belgium U20s international attacking midfielder Cihan Çanak.


According to Standard Liège's official statement, Çanak has signed on a new long-term three-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2026.


Çanak, who is only 18 years old, was born in Verviers, Belgium on January 24, 2005. He is 1.75 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but he can also play as left winger and right winger. He has dual nationality of Belgium and Turkey.


Çanak joined the Standard Liège youth academy at the age of 6 and was promoted to the first-team in the summer of 2021.


Çanak came on as a substitute to complete his Standard Liège first-team debut on the Boxing Day in 2021, and later officially became the first-team's key player starting from last summer.


Internationally, Çanak has played for the Belgium U15s national team since February 2020, and later concurrently plays for the Belgium U17s and U20s national team since February last year.


So far this season, Çanak has played 29 times for the Jupiler Pro League side across all competitions, scoring 1 goal and assisting 4 times.
