Bima Sakti Reveals Four U-16 National Team Players Injured

Indonesia's U-16 national team is currently the leader of Group A's standings

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian U-16 national team, Bima Sakti, said that four of his players had suffered injuries ahead of the final match of the AFF U-162022 AFF Group against Vietnam, Saturday (6/8).

Bima said that at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, Yogyakarta, two players, left back Muhammad Ridho and winger Azzaky Esa Erlangga, were injured during their match against Singapore, Wednesday (3/8) night.

This situation made Ridho withdrawn in the 68th minute to be replaced by Seva Ditya Rangga. Meanwhile Azzaky was forced to leave the field in the 76th minute and give a place to I Komang Ananda Krisna Putra.

"Ridho was 'sliding', Azzaky was also injured. Hopefully they recover quickly after their muscles are soaked in ice," said Bima.

Meanwhile, two other names who are also not fit are defenders Abil Abdillah Akbar and Sulthan Zaky Pramana.

Habil and Sulthan, who played in full when Indonesia beat the Philippines 2-0 in the inaugural match in Group A, Sunday (31/7), were not included in the line-up against Singapore.

"They were deliberately rested (when they met Singapore-red) because they had worked hard in the first match and there were a few problems with injuries," said Bima.

However, the Indonesian national team player in the 1990s emphasized that he had anticipated if the players really could not compete.

"I'm not worried because there are players who are more prepared," said Bima.

The match between Indonesia and Vietnam, which will be held at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, Saturday (6/8), starting at 20.00 WIB, will determine which team will qualify directly for the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup.

The Indonesian U-16 national team is currently the leader of the Group A standings with six points from two matches but is ahead on goal difference from Vietnam with similar points.

Thus, Indonesia only needs at least a draw from the match against Vietnam.

As for Singapore and the Philippines, it has been confirmed that they will be eliminated from the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup because they have not collected points from two matches.

However, the two teams will still meet in the last match which will also take place on Saturday (6/8) at the Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul.
