Bologna activate Posch buyout clause, worth 5.5 million euros

On Wednesday, the 26-year-old Austrian centre-back Stefan Posch confirmed that he will leave Hoffenheim this summer after eight years in service. Bologna exercised the buyout option on him, and then signed him until 2026.

"I grew up as a Bundesliga player at Hoffenheim and was even allowed to play with the club in the Champions League and the European Cup. Looking back, I had a good and successful time at Hoffenheim," Posch bid farewell to Hoffenheim. Finnheim said sadly.

"I will be forever grateful to Hoffenheim. I wish the club and its fans all the best for the future," he concluded.

Stefan Posch started playing for Hoffenheim from the echelon when he was 18 years old, and it lasted for more than 8 years. So far, he has played 126 times on behalf of Hoffenheim, with another 2 goals and 1 assist.

However, the Austrian sought a change last summer and ended up joining Bologna on loan. After 8 months, he played a total of 30 times and participated in 8 goals (6 direct goals, 2 assists). Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen said: "Following the typical Hoffenheim road, Stefan has made great progress at TSG. He has grown from a youth talent to an experienced Bundesliga defender and a veteran Austrian international."

"After eight years with us, Posch was eager to take on a new challenge last summer. He impressed last season in Bologna as a dangerous right-back. Therefore, the manager has now decided to take on a new challenge. He triggers a financially beneficial buyout option. We wish Posch all the best for his future in Serie A."

It is understood that Posch's buyout is worth 5.5 million euros.
