Bournemouth and Brooks complete new contract until 2026

Bournemouth announced on Monday that the 25-year-old Wales international David Brooks has signed a new contract until June 2026.

David Brooks has played for Bournemouth since 2018. He has played 90 times for the "Cherry Legion" in 3 years, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists. Last October, Brooks was diagnosed with second-degree Hodgkin lymphoma and was sidelined for a long time. Fortunately, after more than 7 months of treatment, the player finally overcame cancer in May this year and is expected to return in the 2022/23 season.

Looking back on his journey over the past year, David Brooks is filled with emotion. He told Bournemouth's official website: "The past year has been extremely difficult for me, my family and friends, but I can finally restart my career and the renewal of this contract is the icing on the cake. Lift. I'm working with a great coaching staff at Bournemouth and hope to get back on the pitch as soon as possible."

Brooks is also excited to follow in the footsteps of teammates Mark Travers, Dominic Solanke, Lewis Cook and Adam Smith to renew their contracts. The Welshman confirmed to the club's official website that he is full of vision for his future after the extension: "I am delighted to have signed this agreement and look forward to working with this great club in the years to come."

"We all know what David has been through over the past year, so we're all incredibly excited about the extension," Bournemouth chief executive Neil Black said. "He can still make a huge difference for the club and we are delighted that he has become the latest key player to hand over the future to us. He has made incredible progress in his recovery with our behind-the-scenes team. Everyone at the club is very proud to see him back on the pitch in a Bournemouth shirt."
