Bournemouth sacked manager Scott Parker after 9-0 Liverpool humiliation..
2022-08-31 11:15Bournemouth announced on its official website last night that the club manager Scott Parker has been sacked immediately.
Bournemouth wrote in an official statement that although the club is very grateful to Parker and his team for the contribution they made in leading the Cherries back to the Premier League from Championship last season, the club's philosophy and sense of togetherness have drifted a long way apart with Parker, thus the club had no choice but to part company with him.
The statement also added that the club has started the process of searching for a new manager. During this difficult times, Portsmouth's former English club legend, midfielder Gary O'Neil will be taking over the managerial role on interim basis with two club legends Sean Cooper and Tommy Elphick serving as O'Neil's assistants.
The 41-year-old Parker is a former England international midfielder during his playing career. He played for Charlton Athletic, Norwich City, Chelsea, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham across 20 years.
After retiring, Parker was appointed coach of the Tottenham U18 youth team in 2017 and he has since started his coaching career. The following summer, Parker was invited to join the Fulham first-team coaching team, and took over the Fulham managerial position at the end of February 2019 after the Italian veteran manager Claudio Ranieri was sacked", but he failed to help the Cottagers escape relegation.
Despite this, Parker was retained by the Fulham management, and he immediately helped the club return to the Premier League as the Championship promotion play-off winners in 2020. In Parker's second attempt at leading the club at the Premier League for the second time the same summer, Parker was notorious for lamenting that the club have not provided him enough budget to make new signings despite the fact that the club had indeed gave him hundreds of millions of Pounds to spend over the last two years, in the end, the club was relegated again. Following their second relegation, an completely angered Fulham management finally decided to sack Parker at the end of June 2021.
Soon after leaving the Cottagers, Parker was appointed Bournemouth's new manager on the same day he was sacked, as the Cherries first-team squad which he had inherited is basically identical to the one left behind by the one who played in the Premier League before Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall resigned in 2019, and that latter duo's successor, Middlesbrough and Real Madrid's former England legendary international center-back Jonathan Woodgate had also consolidated the foundation of the first-team squad, Parker easily led his team to automatic promotion to the Premier League as runners-up in the Championship last season.
In the first four matchweeks of this season, Parker kept complaining in front of the media that the club would not give him enough funds for making news signings. However, as he was unwilling to admit that the transfer targets he had requested were unrealistic, and that he had only managed to win once in first three matches, Parker's coaching position basically became more precarious when it has already been for a long time.
After the club was humiliated 9-0 by Liverpool who started the season sluggishly last weekend, Bournemouth finally decided to sack Parker a few days later.
Bournemouth, which ranks 17th in the table with 1 win and 3 straight losses with only 3 points and has a goal difference of negative 14 goals currently, will face a Manchester United side which began to rejuvenate at Old Trafford in the Premier League this late Thursday evening.
