Buffon Enjoys Every Game at 43 Years Old

JAKARTA - Gianluigi Buffon turns 43 on January 28. Buffon still played as a starter when Juventus against SPAL in the Coppa Italy quarter-finals in Turin, Thursday (28/1) early morning hrs. Juventus won 4-0 in that match through goals from Alvaro Morata, Gianluca Frabotta, Dejan Kulusevski and Federico Chiesa.

Buffon admits that he can still play at his current age. He enjoyed every match he played. "I am quite relaxed, time is inevitable. You have to accept it, go forward with great enthusiasm," Buffon was quoted as saying by Football Italia .

Buffon was told that super bowl star Tom Brady is also 43 years old and playing this weekend. He was also happy to hear it, because it meant he wasn't the only athlete playing at that age.

"It's great to hear that. That means I'm no exception, we can try to break taboos and some stereotypes about older athletes," he said.

Buffon doesn't want to get too far about next season. He will just enjoy every game at hand.

"I don't even think about it. Someone like me at 43 has to go through one by one. I want to celebrate my birthday and it's already an achievement," he said.

Juventus will face Inter in the Coppa Italia semifinals over two legs on February 2 and 9. He thinks this is an important opportunity to progress in another competition, playing two games against a highly respected team like Inter.

"This is another opportunity to measure our ambition," he said.
