Chelsea face crippled Pulisic out for up to two months
2023-01-12 13:47Following Chelsea 's 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the English League Cup last Friday, and players also suffered injuries in that game, the team drew 4 in the FA Cup on Monday under the condition of injuries and disabilities. After a disastrous defeat to the opponent, Chelsea coach Graham Potter recently revealed the latest injury of the player.
Last Friday, the two starters representing Chelsea in the Carabao Cup were the 28-year-old striker Raheem Sterling and the 24-year-old midfielder Christian Pulisic . The knee injury caused the lineup to suffer another major setback due to injury.
Chelsea, ranked 10th in the Premier League, will face 7th-placed Fulham in the Premier League tomorrow after experiencing 3 consecutive winless games, but the injury lineup is likely to affect Chelsea's next game.
Coach Porter said in the pre-match press conference that Pulisic will face a truce for up to two months. He also added, "This is the pre-set time frame for his injury, and we hope that the absence time will be less."
This is Pulisic's major injury since joining Chelsea from Bundesliga Dortmund in 2019. He represented the US team in the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. After his return, he served as the starter for Chelsea's 3 games, but he injured his right knee in the loss to Manchester City and was forced to suspend his next Chelsea game.
Chelsea's injury-laden league struggles
While Pulisic and Sterling are the latest players to join the injured lineup, Chelsea currently have 22-year-old defender Wesley Fofana, 26-year-old defender Ben Chilwell, 23-year-old defender Reece James, 21-year-old defender Forward Armando Broja, 26, midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, 26, and midfielder N'Golo Kante, 31, are also on the injured list.
Seibo was originally scheduled to start 33-year-old forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the latest game, but he missed the 4-0 defeat to Manchester City because of back pain.
As for James, Kanter and Chilwell, they have been absent from the game for a long time due to injuries before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and James relapsed after resuming training last week, so he will continue to be injured for several weeks.
According to Chelsea's current lineup of long-term injuries and full injuries of key players, it will have a very adverse impact on the team in the next Premier League.
Urgent signing of Felix to boost team morale
In this regard, Chelsea coach Porter is looking for a solution, and actively loaned 23-year-old forward Joao Felix to La Liga Atletico Madrid until the end of the season.
With the agreement reached between the two sides today, Porter is looking forward to the arrival of Felix very much, and at the same time praised him as an excellent player with rich experience in the backcourt and two-line offense despite his young age, and hopes that he can boost Chelsea's Offensive, helping the team end the winless record.
