Chelsea Prepares Abundant Money to Sign Leicester City's New Mainstay Muslim Player
2022-08-03 04:42LONDON -- Chelsea have not given up on signing Leicester City centre-back Wesley Fofana this summer. The Blues are indeed looking for a new centre-back even though they already have Kalidou Koulibaly. Chelsea want a stronger back line than last season.
According to talkSPORT , reported by Tribal Football , Tuesday (2/8/2022), Fofana became the main target of the club based at Stamford Bridge. They are determined to get his signature after failing to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kunde and Presnel Kimpembe.
In order to get that target, Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay a transfer fee of £80 million according to Leicester's request. Fofana can be used as a long-term defender considering he is only 21 years old. But he has shown his qualities as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
If Chelsea succeed in securing his signature, then the young French player will become one of the most expensive defenders ever. The transfer fee can rival Harry Maguire who left for Manchester United from Leicester.
Chelsea lost Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid and Andreas Christensen to Barcelona. Coach Thomas Tuchel sees the defensive position as one of the records that must be improved in order to compete in the 2022/2023 season. That's because one of Chelsea's weaknesses last season was the fragility of defense.
Chelsea are also likely to lose Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso. The two players are being considered as a medium of exchange for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who has been linked with Manchester United throughout the summer transfer window.
Fofana actually only joined Leicester at the beginning of the 2020 season. However, he has become a mainstay. This Muslim player was injured but was able to get up.
