City Diklaim Berubah Pikiran Soal Kemungkinan Kepergian Silva

Silva's transfer fee will be used to sign Paqueta

PARIS - Manchester City have reportedly changed their minds about a possible move for Bernardo Silva this summer.

The Citizens are reportedly willing to release the Portuguese attacking midfielder for a transfer fee of no less than £68 million.

According to L'Equipe , the change in attitude of The Citizens is inseparable from the plan of the Premier League champions last season to bring in Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta.

''Later, the transfer value of Silva's move will be used to recruit Paqueta,'' wrote L'Equippe 's report, Friday (29/7).

Not only that, in the report, L'Equippe also said that City's management had offered Barcelona the opportunity to negotiate a possible move for the 27-year-old attacking midfielder.

The opportunity for the Catalan club to be able to bring Silva is finally open again.

Previously, City coach Pep Guardiola had confirmed his plan to keep the former AS Monaco attacking midfielder.

However, the Spaniard will not hinder a player's desire to leave City if he feels uncomfortable at the Etihad Stadium.

"I think Bernardo Silva will stay with us. I only want players who still want to strengthen this team,'' Guardiola said as quoted by Sports , early last month.

Starting to work with Guardiola at City since 2017, Silva has shown an increase in performance, especially in the flexibility of playing positions.

Often placed as a winger, Silva is now good at plotting as an attacking midfielder. Silva's contribution to The Citizens was quite impressive.

Last season, Silva was only absent in three matches in the English Premier League stage and led to the success of presenting the English Premier League title for City.

In the last five seasons for City, Silva has made 251 appearances and contributed 48 goals in all competitions.

Even so, the player who is still under contract with City until 2025 was reportedly intending to leave The Citizens, to be precise at the beginning of last season.

In fact, the Portuguese national team attacking midfielder had asked the club management to release him last summer.

Silva's move rumors then continued in the middle of last season.

A number of clubs, especially Barcelona, are reportedly interested in signing the former Benfica winger. However, all efforts of the Blaugrana to get Silva ended in rejection from The Citizens.

Barcelona finally brought Silva's colleague at City, Ferran Torres. Barcelona's interest in Silva has not completely stopped.

The Catalan club is again said to be trying to bring Silva from The Citizens in this summer's transfer window.
