Conte says Bayern are unethical for discussing Harry Kane
2022-07-24 18:09JAKARTA - Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte said Bayern Munich did not have the manners for discussing the possibility of withdrawing Harry Kane from Spurs. Last summer Kane attempted a move to Manchester City, although he later remained in north London to score 17 goals in 37 Premier League games last season to lead Spurs into the Champions League.
German newspaper Bild reported on Saturday that Kane's agent had been approached by Bayern. Spurs themselves do not want to rule out the possibility of a transfer. Bayern without a striker after Robert Lewandowski left for Barcelona.
Speaking after Spurs' 2-1 win over Ranger in Saturday's pre-season clash in which Kane scored twice, Conte expressed his disappointment with Bayern.
"I don't know why (Kane was linked with Bayern). The situation is very clear at Tottenham and Harry is a very important part of the club's project. I don't like talking about other club's players. Maybe it's a bit disrespectful to other clubs," Conte was quoted as saying by the ESPN website.
Conte's remarks come after Bayern boss Julien Nagelsmann said Kane, who is still two years tied at Spurs, would be a perfect fit at Bayern.
"He's very expensive, that's the problem, but he's a brilliant player, one of two or three who can play as a centre-forward (and also) a number 10, he's very strong, brilliant with his head and both feet," Nagelsmann told reporters on Friday. Bayern's pre-season tour of the United States.
"He can score a lot of goals in the Bundesliga, I don't know the price, but it's very tough for Bayern Munich. We'll see what happens next."
Bayern chief executive Oliver Kahn once told Bild that Kane is a world-class striker. But he said his transfer might happen later.
"He is still under contract at Tottenham," said Kahn. "Sure, he's a top striker, but that's all a dream for the future. Just wait and see what happens."
