Cristiano Ronaldo knocked down 14-year-old fan's mobile phone result: conditional warning by police

The case of Ronaldo knocking down the mobile phone of a young Everton fan is coming to an end after a lapse of 4 months. Merseyside Police issued a notice on Wednesday confirming that Ronaldo was given a warning.

"We can confirm that a 37-year-old man voluntarily accepted police questioning on suspicion of assault and criminal damage," the local police wrote in a statement. "The allegation relates to an incident that occurred after Everton v Manchester United at Goodison Park on Saturday 9 April. The matter was closed with a conditional warning."

A conditional warning is not a criminal conviction, but it can be kept as a criminal record. If the defendant is charged for re-offending in the future, the warning will be taken into consideration by the court in sentencing.

The incident happened on April 10 this year, when Cristiano Ronaldo started in Manchester United 's 0-1 loss to Everton. After the game, Ronaldo was witnessed knocking an Everton fan's mobile phone to the ground in the player tunnel, causing damage to the phone and minor injuries to the opponent. According to the "Liverpool Echo" report, the attacked fan is a 14-year-old boy with autism.

Afterwards, Ronaldo publicly apologized for his inappropriate behavior on his Instagram personal account and invited the victim to Old Trafford to watch the game, but was immediately rejected by the fans. Earlier this month, the Portugal star was questioned by police on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.
