Defeat West Brom, West Ham Enter the Europa League Zone

An additional three points made West Ham move up to sixth place in the standings

WEST BROMWICH - West Ham United entered the Europa League qualification zone of the Premier League standings after rising to beat West Bromwich Albion with a score of 3-1 in the 37th match at The Hawhtorns Stadium, Thursday (20/5) WIB.

West Ham fell behind to a goal by Matheus Pereira and had to wait until the end of the first half to equalize through Tomas Soucek.

Then in the last 10 minutes of normal time, Angelo Ogbonna and Michail Antonio took turns breaking into West Brom's goal to complete West Ham's revival.

An additional three points put West Hamnaik into sixth place in the standings with 62 points, displacing Tottenham Hotspur (59) who lost in the early match.

Meanwhile, West Brom (26), who have been relegated, have to close their home form this season with two successive defeats, according to the official Premier League website.

West Ham were awarded a penalty for their first attack when Michail Antonio was brought down by goalkeeper Sam Johstone.

But the golden opportunity was wasted in vain by Declan Rice who became the executioner and his execution hit the goalpost.

This failure recently had to be paid handsomely, because even though West Ham was still relatively dominating the game, West Ham's goal was conceded first in the 27th minute from a corner kick situation.

Pereira's corner so sharply slammed into the post near the visitors' area and Soucek failed to block it and ended up going into the net to give West Brom the lead.

The goal gave the home players confidence and they almost doubled the lead in the 35th minute when Pereira snatched a wild ball inside the West Ham penalty box, unfortunately his shot was blocked by Aaron Cresswell who deflected the ball over the crossbar.

Two minutes later, Hal-Robson Kanu also almost found West Ham's goal, if only his left-footed shot was not blocked by Craig Dawson.

In the midst of West Brom's momentum, West Ham actually managed to equalize at the end of the first half through Soucek's flick in front of the host's goal to greet Said Benrahma's bait.

West Ham entered the second half at high intensity and came close to taking the lead when Cresswell's free-kick hit the post in the 65th minute.

David Moyes 'men continued to press but Johnstone made a vital save to save Pablo Fornals' two good chances.

West Ham's hard work finally paid off in the 82nd minute, when Ogbonna picked up a corner from a hard header to put the Hammers in front of the hosts. VAR briefly reviewed Ogbonna's alleged handball before endorsing the goal.

The momentum of West Ham's revival continued and two minutes before the normal half-time Jesse Lingard's pass was completed with an Antonio strike to complete the visitors' 3-1 victory.

The goal at the same time confirmed Antonio's reputation as West Ham's most fertile player in away games with 25 goals in the Premier League.

West Ham will close their season by hosting Southampton at the London Olympic Stadium on Sunday (23/5), when in another match which takes place at the same time West Brom will travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United.
