Even though he lost, Arteta was proud of Arsenal's way of playing
2021-02-12 21:10WOLVERHAMPTON - Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta was very proud to see how his squad played by dominating the game in the first half when Arsenal defeated Wolverhampton Wanderes 1-2 in the English Premier League on Wednesday (3/2) early morning WIB. Arteta claims, the Gunners should be four goals ahead.
"We didn't do that and then we put ourselves in a very difficult position to concede," Arteta said after the match, quoted by Sky Sports .
Actually, Arsenal took the lead through Nicolas Pepe in the 32nd minute. But the red card that David Luiz got before the break made Wolves equalize through the execution of a penalty scored by Ruben Neves.
The hosts turned ahead when the second half walked four minutes through Joao Moutinho. Arsenal's pursuit of the game was even more difficult after their goalkeeper Bernd Leno was shown a red card for handball outside the area.
Arteta also commented on the red card that David Luiz got. He admitted that he watched the replay 10 times from different angles when the Brazil international was shown a red card. From his observations, Arteta didn't see any contact Luiz had made.
“I want to see if VAR has a different angle. I don't want to think that (decisions were made based on David Luiz's reputation) I believe they made decisions based on seeing things. I was expecting to see something but didn't see anything, "he stressed.
Arteta said the way Arsenal lost the match was very painful. However, Arteta will take the positive side of the defeat. He saw the potential to develop further if he looked at the ways of fighting and the opportunities his foster children created.
This defeat made Arsenal sit in 10th place in the standings by packing 31 points from 22 matches. Meanwhile, Wolves are in 14th place.
