Expose 38-year-old free agent Anthony wants to return to Knicks

It is understood that the 38-year-old forward veteran Carmelo Anthony, who is still in the NBA free agency market and awaiting a contract with the team, is eager to return to the New York Knicks he played for 11 years ago.

Anthony has played for 19 years in the league and has played for six teams. Next season, he is about to enter the 20th season of his league career. He has played for the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and last season's Los Angeles Lakers, with a total of 1,260 appearances in those 19 games. During the years, he has won the rookie MVP, the best rookie first team, the 2nd league second team, the 4th third team, the league scoring champion, the 10th All-Star player, and the 75 biggest stars in NBA history. He also scored a career-high 62 points in a single game, breaking the single-game scoring record in league and team history.

After the 2020-2021 season ended and left the Portland Trail Blazers, Anthony signed a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers last offseason to play alongside general LeBron James. He was instrumental in the offense of the Lakers' rotation last season, averaging 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1 assist, 0.7 steals and 0.8 blocks in 26 minutes in 69 games.

An efficient 44.1 percent field goal percentage and 37.5 percent 3-point percentage also boosted the Lakers' overall shooting percentage. But the veteran is also over 37 years old, and his physicality makes the offense unstable, and his passing and defense are unsatisfactory.

The veteran will turn 40 in two more years, and the Lakers are eliminating him as they rebuild their roster. The veteran is still under contract with any team, and Anthony will likely struggle to play as a free agent before the season opens.

Recently, Anthony revealed that he is interested in returning to the Knicks. It is not yet known what the Knicks are willing to do, but the chances of the veteran getting a contract with his former club are slim.
