Guardiola asks City players not to be careless for the title of champion

City can go to the top of the standings if they beat West Bromwich, Wednesday (27/1) in the morning.

MANCHESTER - Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola asked his players not to be caught off guard in the midst of the competition for the English Premier League champions this season. City can take the top position of the standings if they can beat West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns, Wednesday (27/1) in the morning WIB.

After West Brom, City will challenge Sheffield United and Burnley then face defending champions Liverpool, 7 February. So far, City have won six in a row and are continuing their 17 game unbeaten run.

"The best advice is to focus on the next match. It's not just about Sheffield United or Burnley. Right now (focus) is only on West Brom. That's the concentration," said Guardiola as reported by the Manchester Evening News , Tuesday (26/1).

"Focus on what's in front of you, that's the way to go. I've never asked players to win four, five or six games in a row."

On the one hand, Guardiola is aware that the top position can be won by another team at any time. Manchester United (MU) will also regain first place if they succeed in winning Sheffield.

"The players must be aware that we are not at the top of the standings. This is the time to get up and stay up there," he said.

"Winning this game, that's all that matters. Then make a recovery, eat well, rest well."
