Haaland withdraws from Norway squad with groin injury

The 22-year-old Norwegian center Haaland will miss the European Cup qualifiers in late March due to a groin injury.

Harland is currently playing for Manchester City in the Premier League and is in excellent form. In half a season of playing for Manchester City, he made a total of 37 appearances, scored 42 goals and sent 5 assists.

On the current international match day, Harland was selected for the Norwegian national team without any suspense. However, he confirmed his withdrawal from the European preliminaries on the eve of the match against Spain due to a groin injury.

Haaland, who scored a hat-trick in Manchester City's 6-0 thrashing of Burnley last weekend, was replaced by Alvarez in the 63rd minute. The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) revealed that the player felt some pain in his groin after the game, but he still reported to the Norwegian team.

The NFF later added that they believed that Haaland's physical condition was not suitable for Norway's two European preliminaries. "He'd better be treated at the club," said Norway team doctor Ola Sand.

It is understood that Haaland has left the Norwegian training camp and flew back to Manchester City.

Regarding Haaland's absence, Norwegian coach Stale Solbakken said: "Elin was very sad when he realized that he could not fight for the team. Fortunately, we still have enough confidence, talent and cohesion to play in the next round. Earn points in the next game."

"We're not thinking about anything and we're going to get on with our work and be fully prepared for Saturday and Tuesday."

In this European preliminaries, Norway is in Group A with Cyprus, Georgia, Scotland and Spain. According to the schedule, they will play against Spain on the 25th and Georgia on the 28th.
