Knicks trade Dennis Smith Jr., Draft Picks for Derrick Rose


The New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons have officially announced that the two teams have reached a deal. The Knicks traded Dennis Smith Jr. and a 2021 second-round pick (via the Charlotte Hornets for Derrick Rose, who will wear the No. 4 jersey for the Knicks this upcoming season.


Rose, 32, 6-3, 200-pounds, who was the No. 1 overall pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA Draft and was the league MVP following the 2010-11 season.


Rose has played for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons, appeared in 611 NBA games (504 starts) recording 18.7 points, 5.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds over 12 seasons.


In 15 games for Detroit this season, Rose is averaging 14.2 points, 4.2 assists and 1.9 rebounds over 22.8 minutes.


The once-guard of Knicks, previously spent one season with the team from Bulls ia trade on June 22, 2016. As a Knick, He started all 64 games and averaged 18.0 points, 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds in more than 32.5 minutes per game.


He was sent to New York as part of the trade that landed Kristaps Porzingis in Dallas in January 2019.
