Laporta admits several Barcelona players will be sold

Barcelona is trying to restore its finances.

JAKARTA - Barcelona president Joan Laporta admits there are several players in Xavi Hernandez's squad who will be transferred this summer. He said this in the midst of Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag's interest in Frenkie de Jong.

De Jong remains Erik ten Hag's priority target after United confirmed deals for Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez as part of the team's rebuild ahead of the 2022/2023 season.

In the process, their pursuit of De Jong has not gone smoothly, although the club initially set a fee for the player. Coach Xavi Hernandez objected to releasing the 25-year-old Dutchman.

However, Laporta said any player sales would be made for football reasons as he moves to clarify their financial circumstances.

"We still have work to do, there are players coming in and out, but we've done a good job adding players," Laporta said.

"They know there are players who don't have (space) anymore for whatever reason. So we have to accommodate a way out for them. They (transfer negotiators) are on track for very good ratings. TV rights are sold and that has added important revenue. We are on track to be healthy," he added.

He revealed the club believe this will turn into important growth and that it will find more money than it makes. He said he was very satisfied with these two steps. Therefore, the club has to manage the chaos and it is their job to make the decisions.

"We were given a club that was on the verge of collapse. That's not just overcoming these conditions. But now the club is back in a financial position where it can face any challenge in front of it. In any case. we have to work harder to increase our income," said Laporta. .
