Leonardo: Pochettino Can Perfect PSG's Identity

JAKARTA - The Sports Director of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Leonardo stated that MauricioPochettini is considered capable of perfecting the identity of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). He guaranteed Pochettino was a new coach who understood PSG's DNA.

PSG decided to sack Thomas Tuchel in December 2020, four months after Tuchel led PSG to the first Champions League final in club history. The German coach has to pay the price after PSG underwent an inconsistent start to the 2020/2021 French Ligue 1 season.

The French champions finally appointed their former players to stabilize the club's performance. Pochettino signed a two-year contract at the Parc des Princes in early January 2021, with an option to extend for one year if he reaches his target over the next two seasons.

The Argentine coach has started his coaching career well at PSG. He brought PSG back to the top of the Ligue 1 standings while presenting the Trophee Des Champions, the first trophy he won as a coach.

Pochettino watched his team secure the trophy by beating Marseille 2-1 earlier this month. Goals from Mauro Icardi and Neymar ensured that the Parisians remained a dominant force in their homeland.

A 1-0 win at Angers at the weekend has seen PSG return to the top of the French Ligue 1 standings. PSG are now ready to host Montpellier on Saturday (23/1).
