Jurgen Klopp must admit the superiority of his competitors.

LIVERPOOL -- Liverpool played in all possible matches a team played in a single season last season.

Able to advance to the top party in three tournaments, including the Champions League final, the Reds have appeared in 63 parties in all competitions throughout last season.

After confirming the achievement of the English League Cup title in February 2022, Liverpool completed it with an FA Cup title in May 2022.

The Reds also maintain the opportunity to become the first team to be able to win four titles at once in one regular season.

The Reds continue to follow Manchester City's points in the English Premier League and compete with Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

However, in these two competitions, Jurgen Klopp's team must recognize the advantages of these competitors.

Ending the English Premier League with 92 points, the Reds pocketed a one point difference from City, who became kings in England.

In the Champions League arena, Liverpool had to admit the superiority of Real Madrid via Vinicius Junior's only goal, at the end of May 2022.

Apart from the failure to win the English Premier League and Champions League titles, the Reds are considered to have made their own achievements last season.

It is not an easy matter to be able to continue to maintain the opportunity to win titles in all competitions until the end of the competition season.

This ability is inseparable from the Reds' strategy in recruiting players in the transfer market.

Throughout last season, Liverpool were known to only bring in two players, Ibrahim Konate at the start of the season and Luis Diaz in the middle of the season.

This step turned out to be related to Liverpool's vision of building a solid team.

Not only relying on the presence of new players, Liverpool also does not want to forget efforts to develop players who have dropped out of the academy and the youth team.

Jurgen Klopp's assistant coach, Pep Lijnders, reveals this strategy in his latest book, entitled 'Intensity: Inside Liverpool FC-Our Identity'.

"The most important thing is to sign the best players, keep the best players and develop young players to be the best."

"Many parties may judge, there are better players out there. However, there is no better player for Liverpool than the players we already have," wrote Lijnders as reported by the Liverpool Echo, Wednesday (27/7).

The Dutch assistant coach also said, Liverpool already have a solid team and strong character. This quality is built on the mentality and character of the players in the first team.

This aspect, said Lijnders, that the Reds must be able to maintain in their search for new players. Specifically, Lijnders revealed, in a conversation with Klopp in the middle of last season, he had suggested the investment choices that the Reds had to make in the first team.

“Players who can change the game and academy players. We have to invest more in these two sectors,'' wrote Lijnders.

Liverpool, said Lijnders, did not need to bring in a back-up player which ultimately reduced the opportunities for youth and academy graduates to be able to develop their abilities.

Lijnders gave an example when Liverpool signed Luis Diaz and promoted Kaide Gordon from the youth team.

Likewise when Liverpool signed Thiago from Bayern Munich in 2020 along with the signing of the professional contract of Harvey Elliot, who had signed from Fulham a year earlier.

“So there is still room for talents from the academy to evolve into players who can change the course of the game. We have to bring in top players and make the most of the academy. Liverpool are entitled to this process,''continued Lijnders.
