Guyana center Mohamed Bayo, newly signed by Lille this summer, has been temporarily expelled from the first team by the club due to disciplinary issues, Agence France-Presse reported on Tuesday.

In the third round of Ligue 1 in the 2022/23 season, Lille lost 1-7 at home to Paris Saint-Germain. The night before the game, 24-year-old Mohamed Bayo was seen in a nightclub with his friends, and the club excluded him from the squad for the next day's match against Paris.

"It's disrespectful to the club, disrespectful to the technical staff and disrespectful to the fans," Lille president Olivier Le Tang confirmed to Amazon Prime after the game. "We and the coach (Paul Fonseca) are annoyed, we cannot tolerate this behaviour, we are outraged by it."

Agence France-Presse said that Lille management has announced the decision to punish Bayeux. The player is devolved to the reserve team with a fine of 75,000 euros. It is reported that although Bayou apologized for his disciplinary behavior, it remains to be seen when he will return to the first team.

In July this year, Lille spent 14 million euros to introduce Mohamed Bayo from Clermont, considering him as a replacement for Turkey international Blac Yilmaz. The Guyanese started the game against Auxerre and away to Nantes, but failed to score.
