Liverpool confirmed through their official website on Thursday that the club's Spain U19s international defensive midfielder Stefan Bajčetić will unfortunately be ruled out for the rest of the season due to an unfortunate injury to the adductor of his thigh.

Bajčetić felt discomfort in his leg in the training session earlier and missed Liverpool's 0-1 loss to Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16s knockout stage. At the time, head coach Jürgen Klopp revealed that the wonderkid's adductor is suspected to be injured, and the cause needs to be found out as soon as possible. It is a pity that this young player who has been praised for his mature performances recently really has to bid farewell to this season because of the injury.

After the official statement was released, Bajčetić also confirmed that he will be ruled out for the season due to injury through his personal official instagram social platform account, by writing: "Unfortunately, I've picked up an injury, which will make me sidelined until after the end of the season."

"It's very sad for me to say goodbye to an amazing season, but I understand it's part of football and setbacks like this only make me stronger physically and mentally."

"I would also like to thank all the Reds' fans who have given me so much support throughout the season and I assure you that I will do my best to come back stronger than ever and You'll Never Walk Alone. "

Bajčetić, who is only 18 years old, was born in Vigo, Spain on October 22, 2004. He is 1.85 meters tall, primarily plays as defensive midfielder but can also be deployed as a center-back. His father Srđan is formerly the foreign player of Dalian Shide and Hunan Shoking, who is currently the head coach of Celta Vigo youth academy, and his brother Jovan is also a member of the Celta Vigo reserve team. Like his elder brother, the little Bajčetić also has dual citizenship of Spain and Serbia.

Coincidentally, Bajčetić himself joined Celta Vigo youth academy when he was a child because his father was playing for the club in the early years, and was later spotted by Liverpool youth academy director Alex Inglethorpe, and after successfully be persuaded, agreed to join the Reds at the end of December 2020 for €250,000.

After coming to Liverpool, Bajčetić, who quickly progressed in the youth academy, was swiftly promoted to the U18s. After that, he went to Thailand and Singapore with the club for the first time during the pre-season warm-up friendlies of the Asian tour this season, while also trained and played together with all the members of the first-team.

In August last year, Bajčetić made his first-team debut after coming on as a substitute in Liverpool's 9-0 trashing of Bournemouth in the Premier League. Three months later, he started for the first time as he played against Derby County in the Carabao Cup in the 3rd knockout round.

At the end of December, Bajčetić scored the first goal of his career shortly after coming off the bench in the league match against Aston Villa, and immediately let everyone see how extraodrinarily talented he is. Subsequently, he played in 3 Champions League group stage matches, becoming one of the youngest player to have played in the Champions League for the Reds in its club's history after Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Billy Koumetio.

So far, Bajčetić has played 26 times for Liverpool across all competitions, scoring 1 goal, assisted 1 time, and averaged a rating of 7.38 per game, becoming one of the remaining shining light besides Thiago Alcântara among the Premier League giants whose midfield is seriously underperforming this season.
