Manchester United have reportedly signed Ralf Rangnick as interim coach
2021-11-27 15:06JAKARTA - Manchester United (MU) has found a temporary coach until this season ends. The figure who was picked up by the MU management was Ralf Rangnick. The German has reportedly reached an agreement with United to become their interim manager until the end of the season.
Rangnick left his job as head of sport and development at Lokomotiv Moscow to take up a role at Old Trafford until the end of the season. According to a report by The Athletic , Thursday (25/11) night, the deal is conditional on the approval of Rangnick's current club, Lokomotiv, but United see this as not a problem.
Rangnick has agreed a six-month contract until the end of May. He will have two more years in a consultant role. The work permit arrangement means he will not be in charge of the team when the Red Devils take on Chelsea. Manchester United will still be accompanied by Michael Carrick.
With the signing of an agreement between Manchester United and Rangnick, Carrick has been confirmed as a caretaker shortly after the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He previously brought MU beat Villarreal in the Champions League.
Manchester United management previously dismissed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as coach on Sunday (21/11), after a 4-1 defeat to Watford. The result leaves them eighth in the Premier League.
United made it clear they would be looking for an interim manager until the end of the season and they quickly moved on to Rangnick, who has previously managed Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig.
He also brought little-known German club Ulm to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history at the start of this century.
Rangnick also had great success as director of football. He held that role for Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig from 2012 onwards, while having brief stints as manager at Leipzig.
After Rangnick took on the role, Leipzig moved up from the regional league or fourth tier of German football competition to the Bundesliga. Rangnick is considered the teacher of a number of cool-handed young coaches from Germany today.
