Marcos Rojo leaves MU, moves to Boca Juniors

Rojo strengthened Manchester United in 122 matches since 2014.

JAKARTA - Manchester United (MU) defender Marcos Rojo has completed his permanent move to Boca Juniors, said the two clubs concerned, as reported by ESPN. United issued a statement Tuesday (2/2) saying they had received an undisclosed fee. Even though Boca insists Rojo's contract at Old Trafford is over before an agreement is reached with the Argentine.

Rojo recorded 61 caps with the Argentina national team. He has played for United in 122 games following a £ 16.5 million move from Sporting Club in 2014. But he hasn't played at all this season.

He only made 17 appearances after signing a new contract in March 2018 and has not played for United since their 3-1 win against Brighton & Hove Albion in November 2019.

His contract will expire this summer after United refused to activate the option to extend him for one more season.

Rojo played with Estudiantee in January 2020 on loan but only played once before the Covid-19 pandemic stopped soccer competitions around the world.
