Odion Ighalo Officially in Al Shabab Uniform
2021-02-15 07:38RIYADH - Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalotelah completed his move to the Saudi Arabia Pro League by strengthening Al Shabab. The 31-year-old figure has been a Manchester United loan player from Shanghai Shenhua since the January 2020 transfer window and ends on January 31, 2021.
During his loan spell with the Red Devils, Ighalo enjoyed a good reserve position. The reason is, every time he was assigned by coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he made changes. He was recorded to appear 23 matches and scored five goals and one assist for MU.
Now he has officially moved permanently to Al Shabab by agreeing a two and a half year contract. Despite interest from other clubs, he chose to solidify his choice to the six-time Arab Pro League champions.
Al Shabab is seen as showing commitment and ambition to recruit him. This was conveyed by Ighalo's representatives to BBC Sports Africa.
Ighalo also announced his move through social media. He expressed his joy at the new step he was taking. He also featured a video about the club and an opening montage with the message 'New Chapter'.
"We are moving @AlShababSaudiFC ," Ighalo wrote on his Twitter account, quoted from the talksport, Friday (5/2).
The Nigerian international was famous when he was in Watford. There he scored 40 goals in 100 appearances. He defended a number of European clubs before defending Shenhua. In Spain he played for Granada and recorded 34 goals in 123 appearances.
In Italy, he played in the uniforms of Cesena, Udinese Calcio, and Udinese Primavera. He has also strengthened FK Lyn, Changchun Yatai and MU.
