Official: Augsburg sign Finn Dahmen and Patric Pfeiffer in a row
2023-06-02 17:28On Thursday, Augsburg announced the completion of two signings. They are 25-year-old Mainz goalkeeper Finn Dahmen and 23-year-old Darmstadt defender Patric Pfeiffer.
Augsburg officials stated that Finn Dahmen's contract is for two years, with an option for a one-year extension. Patric Pfeiffer also has a 3-year long contract.
Finn Dahmen
Dahmen, 25, arrived on a free transfer from Mainz 05 this summer. By the time he joined Augsburg, he had made 15 appearances, including 13 in the Bundesliga .
Augsburg see Dahmen as their successor after the departure of first goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz this summer. "We have been following Finn Dahmen and his development with interest for some time. When the opportunity arose to convince him to join Augsburg, we did not hesitate a bit," said sporting director Stefan Reuter.
“Finn Dahmen is a player who fits our vision. He is young and ambitious, strong-willed and eager, but also brings some experience. We have no doubts in his ability and are delighted to have him on our side. He will continue his journey with us."
Patric Pfeiffer
The 23-year-old Pfeiffer is Augsburg's second signing this summer. The player came from the Hamburg youth academy and has played for Darmstadt since 2019. In the past 4 years, he has played a total of 85 times and participated in 8 goals (6 direct goals, 2 assists).
For Augsburg, the arrival of Pfeiffer may fill the vacancy left by Reece Oxford's serious injury. "We are proud to bring Patric Pfeiffer to Augsburg, even though there are many clubs interested in him," Stefan Reuter said.
"We've got one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga this season, and his speed, tackling and aerial ability will help us achieve our goals in the future."
