Official: Borussia Mönchengladbach boss Farke sacked

Borussia Mönchengladbach announced the sacking of manager Daniel Farke on Friday.

"After many in-depth discussions, Daniel Farke and the club have decided to part ways. We would like to thank Daniel and his team for the work they have done," said sporting director Roland Virkus.

When Farke stepped down, his assistant coaches Edmund Riemer, Christopher John and athletic coach Chris Domogalla were also resigned.

The 46-year-old Daniel Farke has coached Lippstadt 08, Borussia Dortmund II and Norwich City, and took over Borussia Borussia from Hütter in July last year. However, Borussia Mönchengladbach finished 10th in the Bundesliga with 43 points, the lowest score since 2011.

Farke's successor has yet to be finalized. German media said that Borussia Mönchengladbach prefers former Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane, and U23 coach Eugen Polanski is the second choice after Seoane.
