Official: Cremonese coach Alvini sacked

On the eve of the 18th round of Serie A in the 2022/23 season, the 52-year-old Cremonese coach Massimiliano Alvini was dismissed. Hours later, Cremonese lost 3-2 to Monza, becoming the only team in Serie A to never win.

After the game, the news of Alvini's departure was officially confirmed by Cremonese. "Grigiorossi thanks the coach and his team for the seriousness, professionalism and passion they have shown in their daily work in recent months," the club said in a statement.

Massimiliano Alvini has been in the Italian lower leagues for many years, but was appointed as the coach of Cremonese last summer. After halfway through the season, Cremonese has yet to win a single victory, and currently ranks last with a record of 7 draws, 11 losses and 13 points.

The well-known Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Alvini's position will be taken over by former Genoa coach Davide Ballardini, who is about to sign a one-and-a-half-year contract.
