Official: Hoffenheim coach Breitenreiter sacked

Hoffenheim announced on Monday that Andre Breitenreiter had been sacked as manager.

"We have signed a coach who has enjoyed great recognition from day one, not only from the team, but also from the staff, the staff in the office and all the fans and partners," Hoffenheim sporting director Alexander Rosen said. It was added later.

"We thank him for his kind cooperation and the many positive moments, especially in the early days of our relationship."

The 49-year-old Breitenreiter was hired as Hoffenheim coach this summer, with a contract until June 2024. He once led Hoffenheim to rank fourth in the Bundesliga at the beginning of his tenure, but he failed to maintain the same level of coaching--the team only recorded 7 points after 13 games, and currently has 5 wins, 4 draws, 11 losses and 19 points. The record ranks 14th.

The defeat against Bochum was the final straw for Andre Breitenreiter's dismissal. Three days after Hoffenheim lost to Bochum 2-5, the club chose to terminate the contract early.

Breitenreiter's successor

After parting ways with Breitenreiter, Hoffenheim has started the selection of new coaches. There are many indications that former Southampton coach Ralph Hassenhuttl is the best candidate for Hoffenheim.
