OFFICIAL: Lorient sign Bamba Dieng and Romain Faivre in a row

This Saturday, Lorient finally completed two signings: the signing of Bamba Dieng from Marseille and the half-season loan of Romain Faivre from Lyon.

Bamba Dieng

As Lorient pointed out in a statement, the 22-year-old Bamba Dieng left Marseille to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract with La ville aux cinq ports. His worth can reach up to 10 million euros, of which 3 million euros are floating terms.

A number of French reporters added that Bamba's joining Lorient was very close to failure at one point because the player was found to have potential knee injuries during the physical examination. Although the transaction finally went through, Bamba's contract was changed to a 2.5+2 form.

"I'm very proud to be joining Lorient today," Bamba said after completing his signing. "This is a huge challenge for me and I can't wait to get started in the new colour."

"Lorient have had the best start to the season in their history. I hope to continue this momentum with great performances," he added.

"The form of the game presented by the coach and his staff, as well as the players, has seduced me and I hope to meet the expectations of the club in the coming months and season."

Bamba Dieng is from Senegal and was promoted to the first team from Marseille in February 2021. He mainly serves as a center and has played 54 times for Marseille, with a total of 11 goals and 4 assists.

Romain Faivre

On the day Bamba signed, the 24-year-old French midfielder Romain Faivre also came to vote from Lyon on loan. The player will play for Lorient for half a season, and his salary for the rest of the season will be fully borne by La ville aux cinq ports.

It is understood that Faivre's loan fee is slightly less than 1 million euros, and there is no buyout clause in the contract. Despite this, the player is still very excited to join Lorient.

"From the beginning of the season, Lorient have always presented us with an attractive game, and their philosophy is very suitable for me," Faivre told the official media.

"I think I recognize myself in this style and I can't wait to work with the staff and my new teammates."

"I know the expectations of the management and the fans for this season. I will do my best to meet everyone's requirements and let Lorient achieve a very good second half of the season."

Romain Faivre debuted in Brest in 2020 and switched to Lyon two years later for 15 million euros. He played 28 times for Lyon, scoring a total of 3 goals and sending 1 assist.
