Performance Dropped, PBSI did not send Jonathan Christie to Europe

Two European series, namely the Swiss Open and the German Open, will be held in March.

JAKARTA - PPPBSI has decided to withdraw Jonathan Christi from two European badminton tournaments, namely the Swiss Opendan German Open, which will be held in March. According to the Head of Binpres PP PBSI, Rionny Mainaky, the decision to attract the player who is familiarly called Jojo has something to do with a decline in performance after appearing in two Asian Leg tournaments in Thailand last January.

“Yesterday we saw Jojo's performances in the two Thailand Open tournaments were less than optimal, his performance was not good. I also confirmed with Ko Hendry, the coach, that he better practice first to improve his performance to participate in the next championship. After he was ready, he was sent back, "said Rionny on the official PBSI website, Friday (5/2).

Men's singles coach Hendry Saputra also considered Jonathan not ready to return to the arena. Jonathan, he said, would be asked to practice before participating in the next tournament.

"Jojo let him practice first, until he is ready to be sent to the next tournament," said Hendry.

Besides Jonathan, PBSI also attracted Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and Putri Kusuma Wardani. The withdrawal was made in connection with the waiting list of players at two tournaments in Europe where the two positions were too far away to get a chance to compete.

“For Putri KW and Chico, the waiting list is too far. Chico is in 17th place, while Putri KW is in the 40s. We don't want to take risks if they leave and don't get a chance to compete, it's a shame. "It's better for them to train here first, prepare themselves for the next tournament," said Rionny.

After playing two Leg Asia tournaments in Thailand, the Indonesian badminton team will again appear in the European series badminton championships which also qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

The Swiss Open will be the opening match which will be held on March 2-7 followed by the German Open on March 9-14. Both tournaments belong to the Super 300 category.
