Qatar World Cup - Men's World Cup welcomes first female referee

FIFA announced the referee for Costa Rica vs. Germany in the final round of Group E of the World Cup in Qatar. The 38-year-old female referee from France, Stefani Frapal. This is the first female referee in the men's World Cup.

 

Frappal was appointed as the fourth referee in Mexico's game against Poland, this time as the referee. In an interview with foreign media, Frappal expressed that she was under pressure, but she would remain calm and focused.


When the media asked Frapal if he would be criticized for being a girl, Frapal said that he had been supported by clubs and players since he started working, and he had not received any bad comments.


Frappal has served as the first female referee in many competitions, such as the Champions League, UEFA, and World Cup qualifiers.


In addition to Frapal, there are two other female referees in the World Cup in Qatar, Salima Mukansanga of Rwanda and Yoshimi Yamashita of Japan.
