Rangnick refuses to monitor the Premier League table every week

Manchester United only drew 1-1 with Leicester City.

JAKARTA - Manchester United (MU) coach Ralf Rangnick refuses to always look at the standings table every week because he says it has no effect. Although he admits he wants to end the season in the top four.

United were not in the mood for a 1-1 draw against Leicester City in the English Premier League. MU is not sharp after Cristiano Ronaldo was absent due to illness. Only VAR intervention prevented his mixed victory in the match at Old Trafford, Sunday (3/4/2022) early morning WIB.

Fred canceled out Kelechi Iheanacho's opener but Leicester thought they had retaken the lead when James Maddison scored. But a foul on Raphael Varane earlier had the goal disallowed.

The Red Devils are three points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal, who have played two fewer games. But Rangnick believes that staying stuck in the table with seven weeks remaining of the season will do nothing.

"For us, it's my job and all of our jobs to finish the season on the highest and best possible note. Saying that doesn't mean finishing fourth," Rangnick said, quoted from The 42 , Sunday (3/4/2022).

But he admits dropping two more points doesn't make the situation any better. However, Rangnick will make the best of his time to prepare the team for the next match.

"It doesn't help at all to look at the table every weekend and speculate and anticipate what might happen, how many points we might need. At the moment we are not the clear favorites for number four," he said.

"But the season isn't over yet, we still have eight games to play and then it's time to draw the right conclusions and take the right decisions for next season."
