Roma right-back Rick Karsdorp deliberately miss training as his relationship with head coach José Mourinho deteriorates further..

Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday that Roma's Netherlands international right-back Rick Karsdorp deliberately missed the training session after being criticised by head coach José Mourinho and the relationship between the two had dropped to a freezing point.

According to Romano, Roma originally scheduled to leave for Japan on Tuesday local time to prepare for the second half of the season with a training camp. However, Karsdorp was absent from the last training session before departing and even disappeared without leaving any notice. As a result, Mourinho and Roma's Director of Football Tiago Pinto were both disappointed with his behavior. Among them, Mourinho has even issued instructions for the latter to leave the club during the winter transfer window in January. They will face off on the day of departure to decide whether Karlsdorp will go to Japan with the club.

Cause of conflict

Earlier, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that José Mourinho complained that he was dissatisfied with the attitude of one of the players among the 16 players who featured in the game after the I Giallorossi drew 1-1 with Sassuolo in Serie A on November 10, and all signs show that the player who was indirectly criticized was Karsdorp. Three days later, the latter's absence from Roma's home game against Torino deepened rumours of a fallout between Karsdorp and Mourinho.

The 27-year-old Karsdorp joined Roma from Feyenoord in July 2017 for €14million. He was plagued by injuries in the early days after joining, and it was only in August 2018 that he officially got the opportunity to play for the club. Karsdorp, who was still a key member of the team that successfully won the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, lost his main position due to the arrival of Turkish international star Zeki Çelik this summer.

This season, Karsdorp has played 11 times for the Serie A powerhouse in all competitions. Internationally, before joining Roma, Karsdorp represented Netherlands senior national team in 2016 and played three times in their 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia European qualifiers, but since April 2017, he has not received call-up from the Oranje again.
