Schalke 04 completes contract extension with young Germany U21s international center-back Henning Matriciani..




Schalke 04 announced on the official website that the club has completed the contract extension with young Germany U21s international center-back Henning Matriciani.


According to Schalke 04's official statement, Matriciani has signed on a new three-year deal with the club which will run until the summer of 2026.


After completing his contract renewal procedures, Matriciani, who was interviewed by the Schalke 04 official website again said: "I am very happy to be able to gain the trust of the club and proud to be able to sign a contract extension with Schalke. Together with the team and our fans, I want to fully prepare the challenge of helping the club return to the Bundesliga."


Matriciani, who is only 23 years old, was born in Lippstadt, Germany on March 14, 2000. He is 1.87 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but he can also play as a right-back or a left-back.


Matriciani played for the Arminia Bielefeld youth academy when he was a child, returned to his hometown in the summer of 2014 to join the Lippstadt youth academy, and completed his own Lippstadt first-team debut in November 2016.


After his contract expired in the summer of 2020, Matriciani joined Schalke 04 as a free agent, but was first arranged to undergo further training with its reserve team, and did not complete his first-team debut until May 2021.


This season, Matriciani has played 24 times for the Bundesliga side in all competitions and has not scored any goals or assists.
