Spanish Football Association confirms Supercopa de España will be held in Saudi Arabia for the third time in a row on January 11 2023..




The Spanish Football Association announced on its official website on Thursday that the Supercopa de España will be held in Saudi Arabia for the third consecutive year.


According to the official statement of the Spanish Football Association, this season's Supercopa de España will be held Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyahd from January 11 to 15, 2023, where defendings champion Real Madrid will compete with Valencia; and Real Betis will compete with Barcelona for another spot in the final. 


The Spanish Football Association also said in a statement that all games will be played at the King Fahd Stadium, and 60,000 fans will be able to come and witness their favorite La Liga stars and supported clubs in action and fight for honour of this cup competition on the pitch.


As La Liga champions and runner-up last season, this will be the fourth consecutive year that Real Madrid and Barcelona will compete for glory in this cup competition. 


Real Betis and Valencia meanwhile, would join the competition as the champions (former) and runner-up (latter) of Copa Del Rey last season.


Since 2019, the Supercopa de España has been restructured into a 4-team competition and has been moved to Saudi Arabia since then.


It is worth mentioning that Real Madrid and Barcelona have never missed every Supercopa de España since the restructuring.


Real Madrid won the Supercopa de España for the 12th time in their history with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at the same stadium last season.
