Switzerland World Cup 26-man squad announced, Xhaka, Sommer, Shaqiri all selected
2022-11-10 13:18The final 26-man squad for Switzerland's 2022 World Cup in Qatar has been revealed. The 30-year-old Arsenal midfielder Xhaka led the lineup, with Sommer, Shaqiri, Akanji and Zakaria all selected.
Switzerland coach Murat Yakin announced the 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar on Wednesday. Among them, former Bayern midfielder Shaqiri is the most experienced player in the current team competition. This World Cup will be the third World Cup in his career.
The list also includes seven players making their World Cup debut, namely goalkeeper Philip Cohen, midfielder Fabian Frey, Alden Jasari, Renato Stephen, Michel Ebischer With forward Noah Okafor.
After the names of the selected players came one by one, Yakin was full of confidence in the Swiss team's World Cup prospects. "We were spoiled in a few positions. There have been convincing performances from a number of players in recent weeks. In the end, I had to limit myself to 26 players. I'm sure they can help at any time. We achieved our goals," he said.
Switzerland's future schedule
In this World Cup, Switzerland is in Group E with Brazil, Serbia and Cameroon. According to the schedule, they will fly from Zurich to Doha on November 14 for an international warm-up match with Ghana; then they will play Cameroon on the 24th, Brazil on the 29th, and finally face Serbia on December 3rd.
