TA: Arsenal activate Saliba contract extension option

Arsenal have now triggered the option to extend William Saliba's contract, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.

Saliba's current contract will end in June 2023, but the Gunners chose to activate his renewal option early. According to the contract, Saliba's contract with Arsenal was extended until 2024.

William Saliba is only 21 years old and plays as a central defender on the field. In July 2019, he was sold to Arsenal by Saint-Etienne for 30 million euros, and then rented back by the Gunners to play for Saint-Etienne. In the next three years, he moved between Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille until the loan expires on June 30, 2022.

After returning from Ligue 1 this season, Saliba has become the core of the Gunners' defense. He has played 18 times for Arsenal so far, scoring 2 goals and sending 1 assist. He is one of the key players in the Arsenal who are now leading the Premier League.

TA also said that Arsenal and Saliba are negotiating to reach an early contract extension.
