Tuchel doesn't want to be forced out by departures of Kahn and Salihamidzic

Thomas Tuchel says he expects to stay on as Bayern Munich head coach despite the club's decision to sack chief executive Oliver Kahn and director Hasan Salihamidzic.

The German club announced the dismissal of the two key figures on the final day of their 2-1 victory over Cologne to win the Bundesliga title, while Dortmund drew 2-2 with Mainz at the same time .

It was Kahn and Salihamidzic who persuaded Tuchel to succeed Julian Nagelsmann as manager in March, but he doesn't want to be forced out by their departure, and he has a lot of respect for the two. Regrets the departure of the departing staff.

"I knew yesterday that they were going to be sacked," Tuchel told Sky reporters as he celebrated his team's title win . "Hassan and Oliver called me eight weeks ago and convinced me to do this with them. They're very much in charge of it, they've given us their trust, so I need to deal with it first. We're not Celebrating, but having the next political topic."

Asked if he would stay on as Bayern manager, Tuchel smiled and replied: "I think so now."

While Kahn said he was "banned" by the club from attending the decisive game in Cologne, Salihamidzic watched on as Bayern continued their title-winning streak. Speaking to Sky after being sacked , he said: "Of course I would like to continue. I would definitely like to win the Champions League again with this team. I would like to continue being a friend of Bayern. Maybe it was emotional for me today. "It's not an easy situation. I wish you all the best of luck and all the best, though. I'm always emotional when it comes to Bayern and I've had a lot of difficult moments, but also many good ones." .So I thank you for the past six years."

Tuchel and his team will start preparing for next season after the summer break, and the pressure will be on the coach and players to perform better in 2023-24.
