MONACO - French Premier League club AS Monaco have agreed a deal to sign Liverpool midfielder Takumi Minamino for 15.5 million pounds. Earlier, reports suggested Atalanta were also interested in the Japan international who has been battling for a regular first-team spot under Jurgen Klopp.

As well as Atalanta, Sportsmail also reported interest from Wolves and Fulham earlier this month. However, recent reports suggest Ligue 1 side Monaco, who recently saw the departure of Cesc Fabrrgas, are now in the driver's seat after agreeing an initial fee of £12.9m plus an additional £2.6m for the Reds.

Quoting from the Daily Mail , Wednesday (22/6/2022), Athletic claims the 27-year-old has also agreed personal terms with the French club. But there are still medical tests to complete before the move becomes official, but the player is currently still in Japan.

Minamino played a key role in the Reds' FA Cup and League Cup triumphs last season as the club's top scorer in domestic cup competitions with seven goals. But he has only made 11 Premier League appearances, scoring three goals in the process, for Jurgen Klopp's side in 2021/2022.

Minamino joined Liverpool from Red Bull Salzburg in a £7.25m deal ahead of the January 2020 transfer window. After seeing little playing time in 2020/2021, he was loaned out to Southampton for the second half of last season and made 10 appearances before returning to Anfield.

The midfielder has scored 14 goals in 55 appearances during his Reds career, and will now follow Sadio Mane to the Anfield exit. The Senegalese star has completed the first part of Bayern Munich's medical in Germany after flying from Majorca on Tuesday (21/6/2022), as the forward moves closer to a move to the Bundesliga giants.

Liverpool agreed a £35.1 million deal with the German club for the 30-year-old last week and he landed at Munich Airport on Tuesday. The forward arrived in Bavaria on a private jet from Majorca with his adviser Bjorn Bezemer and then traveled to the Barmherzige Brothers hospital for his medical treatment.

Later, Mane emerged from the medical facility wearing Bayern Munich training kit and posing for a photo with the fans. The front-line star is expected to be unveiled by the Bundesliga champions on Wednesday (22/6/2023) at the Allianz Arena.
