West Ham United manager David Moyes admitted that England international defensive midfielder Declan Rice might likely going to leave the club at the end of the season..

West Ham United manager David Moyes admitted for the first time on Friday that England international defensive midfielder Declan Rice might likely going to leave the club at the end of the season.

Moyes made the above statement when he was asked at the pre-match press conference before the matchday 36 of the Premier League match between West Ham United and Newcastle United at the weekend.

Moyes said that although everyone at the club hoped that Rice could play for the club next season, he also realized that this hope had become more and more remote as time went on.

Moyes said: "To be honest, we want him to stay, we hope he can still be a West Ham player next season, but we know that may not be the case at the end of the season."

"So it's one of the plans around the squad planning for the future of the team. We have plans to keep Dec here, but we're also fully aware that there's a good chance we're not going to have him."

Prior to this, Moyes had always insisted that if the club did not receive an offer of £150 million, West Ham United would never sell Rice, while the player himself has repeatedly stated that he hopes to play in the Champions League. Since then, the top six Premier League giants have expressed strong interest in signing Rice.

Among these giants, Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, once revealed that Arsenal had submitted an offer to West Ham United in January this year, but because their offer was not high enough, hence the offer has been rejected.

In addition, Chelsea has repeatedly declared that they want to bring this former youth academy player of theirs back to Stamford Bridge. However, as the club hasn't settled on the appointment of a new head coach yet, there has not been an offer formally submitted by the Blues until now.

Of course, there is also Liverpool, who are about to strengthen their midfield position. With rumours that they have missed out on the signing of Bourssia Dortmund wonderkid Jude Bellingham, Rice will naturally become one of the targets for the Reds.

A few days ago, West Ham United still publicly declared that if they had received a suitable offer, the club will not prevent Rice from leaving the club. According to the news, the Hammers still hope to receive an offer of at least £120 million before selling him.

The 24-year-old Declan Rice was born in Kingston, England on January 14, 1999. He is 1.85 meters tall and primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, but he is also capable of playing as a center-back. He has dual citizenships of England and Republic of Ireland.

Rice joined the Chelsea youth academy at the age of 7, and later moved to the West Ham United youth academy after being released in 2014.

Rice made his first-team debut by comging on as a substitute in the final matchday in the league of the 2017/18 season. Since then, he has quickly established himself as an undisputed main player for the club's first-team with superb performances, and was even selected as one of the best midfielders in world football today.

So far this season, Rice has scored 4 goals and assisted 4 times in 45 appearances for the seriously underperforming Premier League club in all competitions.
