Dean Henderson Criticizes Man United for False Promises

Dean Henderson feels Manchester United did not keep their promise to make him the number one goalkeeper.

JAKARTA -- Dean Henderson criticized Manchester United (MU). He considered Manchester United did not keep their promise to make him the number one goalkeeper at Old Trafford. Henderson is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest until June 2023.

Throughout the 2021/22 season, he became a warmer on the Red Devils bench. He only appeared in three games. During that period, he did not feel the sensation of playing in the English Premier League. Because, Henderson only status as a coating for David de Gea.

Henderson is a product of the Manchester United academy. In 2020, he signed a five-year contract extension at Old Trafford. There is an option to add another 12 months.

After that, he was loaned more to other teams. In the 2020/21 season, he defended the Red Devils in 26 matches in various competitions. That earned him a call-up to the England national team for the 2020 European Cup.

Due to a hip injury, he was dropped from the national team. Henderson has also been exposed to Covid-19. While recovering, he fights for his place.

Born in the small port town of Whitehaven, he has just had the toughest 12 months of his career. Even though he returned to Manchester United after impressing with Sheffield United. He then mentioned the promise of the Red Devils to him.

"It's frustrating. For that reason, I turned down so many (offers as a player) good loans last summer. During 12 months there (only on the bench), it was really criminal," Henderson said, quoted from the Standard page, Wednesday (3/7/2022).

His age has touched the number 25. Not counting the old players, but also not in the category of young goalkeepers. According to him, at that age, he should play a lot.

Henderson was angry at the situation. He informed United's officials about his target. As time went on, the goalkeeper was let go.

"I've worked hard on and off the pitch to keep improving day by day and now I'm looking forward to the season (2022/23) with Nottingham Forest," said Henderson.
