Laporta will do everything possible to bring Lionel Messi back to Barcelona
2022-08-01 11:00CATALAN - Barcelona president Joan Laporta will do his best to bring Lionel Messi back to Camp Nou. This is because Laporta wants Messi to end his professional career at Barcelona.
The player with the nickname La Pulga left Barcelona last summer after the club failed to negotiate a new contract. So that Messi moved closer to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a free transfer with a two-year contract.
Messi's departure made everyone at Barcelona disappointed because he left in an inelegant way. His departure was met with negative news about Messi's relationship with the club. With one year remaining on his PSG contract, it is not impossible for Messi to return to the club he has played for since 2000.
Laporta recently said that Messi's career at Barcelona is not over. Because according to him, Messi's departure occurred when the club was in financial difficulty ahead of the 2021/2022 season.
"I can't believe Messi's chapter at Barcelona is over. And I believe it is our responsibility to make sure that chapter is still open, not closed," Laporta told ESPN , quoted by Sportsmole , Sunday (31/7/2022).
Laporta wants Messi to have a happy ending to his Barcelona career. Because this is a form of respect for the player who has presented so many titles to the club.
As club president, Laporta has a moral responsibility to pay tribute to Messi. Both personally and the president have a debt of achievement to Messi. Therefore, Laporta insists that he will do everything possible to make Messi return to Camp Nou.
“I did what I had to do to put the institution above the best players in our history. I have known Messi since he was a child and I love Leo. I feel morally indebted to Messi. He is our best player," Laporta said.
However, Laporta admits it will not be easy to bring back Messi. But he is confident with the right strategy that intention will be achieved. Messi deserves to be fought back.
